My name is Muneharu Ota.
I am a Japanese interpreter and translator who has lived in Hertfordshire, England since 1986.
Having grown up in Osaka, Japan, I graduated with a degree in Commerce from the prestigious Keio University, Tokyo in 1984. I subsequently began my career in a financial trading firm in Japan before meeting my wife and moving to the UK.
In England, I began work for a major Japanese investment bank in the City of London while simultaneously studying for an MBA. In 1999, I concluded my financial career in order to pursue my own venture as a freelance English / Japanese interpreter and translator. Amongst many other things, this has included serving as a purchasing agent in the UK; offering real-time interpretation for a major international conservation charity and subtitling a media production for commercial use.
I have been an associate member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) for over a decade.
